One time my boy and me drove our 240 automatic to Cali and back. We went the
back way tru Eastern Washington, Idaho , Nevada, Eastern California, places
where you can see for 100 miles in all directions. We got so tired of
driving we drove with the spedo buried past 85 for what seemed like hours.
The fuel dropped fast, real fast. I never checked it but it seemed like it
was around 20mpg. Hey Henry how's Burning Man? /Sold out this year. Wow. Max

They're nice Road Missiles aren't they ? =8-) .
Easing off the loud pedal to 65 MPH should jump you right up to 30 + MPG's right away .

My corn will be ready in October, maybe...it was ankle high in July. I am a pseudo-gentleman farmer of 4 sq ft of corn....no ethanol plant in the works, just yet.
Unfortunately, I have to change a lower control arm this month to pass inspection...bummer.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: mpg report
Chuck That is great one To hum. You made me laugh and wish I we're on a good long road trip. Hi all , I am Rogo from Colorado.new to the list. I have a 1985 300 d 280000 as of today. Odd how I love the fact that it Has High miles. I want to get 1 million. I think I will make it .I was wondering is there a best speed to go for mileage with these super Mercedes. Best regards, john Rogo

yes I have seen better numbers, but, when I have to spend over an hour each way, I prefer to keep up with the flow of traffic. Now if I get a company car, I can save wear and tear on the mbz, and the company will pay for gas, etc. We are still negotiating.
I just hum the country tune, I love this car, my kind of place, cruising down the freeway puts a big smile on my face.....

It is just a guess, but if everyone is like me, I just don't get real excited about working on the cars in July and August in 90-100F heat. I might check and top off the fluids or change a little broken plastic part, but heavy duty lifting with sweat pouring down my head is better when the temps are 60-80F, with a little mist in the air.
