[diesel_mercedes] Re: Gremlin Hunt

I disconnected the negative cable, clipped the test light clip to the negative terminal, and used an office binder clip to secure the "point" to the negative battery post.

I wondered about the clock (mine doesn't work, but I guess that doesnt' mean it can't draw current)

And I confirmed that the driver side rear door light is always on.

...still hunting....

How is this test light connected? From where to where? Is it between the battery post and the cable that would otherwise go on on that post?

Also, your clock is always on. I don't know how much current it draws but I don't believe it should make even a weak test light glow. And I don't remember if it is on a fuse or not.

My symptoms (that I know of) are:

Rear dome wouldn't shut off (it's now unplugged)
Front dome is sketchy (sometimes it works, sometimes not)
Antenna will not retract
Door lights may stay on (hard to test since in daylight they're out of sight when door is shut)

Which are all on fuse #15, which didn't make the light go out when I pulled it...

Things that are "working" on this fuse are:
Trunk light works
passenger vanity light works (driver side doesn't have cover to lift and activate it, so it's always off...don't know how test for sure)
warning monitor term (I don't know what this is)

How do I even begin to troubleshoot this?  I don't want to ruin my new battery (or be caught uncharged again)...

I *really* need a manual.....

Thanks Mark.  I didn't see that it said the price was for a pair though.

BTW Kevin got the motor out last night!  We don't have the gas money this weekend. Besides I told Kevin this weekend he has to build Blu a new house.  I don't like this crappy igloo thing.  Yesterday I discovered it was soaking in there.  Poor thing.  His skin is getting better, but due to the stress on his system he's getting cataracts.  Thankfully I have a "cure" for that.  I was extremely distraught until I found out what was going on.

Anyhow it'll be in the next couple of weekends when we can get down there.  IF my check shows up on time we can do it next weekend, if not it'll be the following week.  I won't know anything until the 11th.

[diesel_mercedes] Parasitic Battery Draw

Well then , leave the fuses out and unplug the alternator , see if that helps .

After that , the glow plug relay on the inner left fender wheelhouse .

Once you find whatever it is (old alarm system ? amplifier in the trunk or under the seats ? .

You should be in good order .

No matter where you are , look in the yellow pages under " Auto Wreckers " and you'll likely find some sort of ' self service ' yard .

Never , _EVER_ waste time calling junkyards ! they always have WAAYYY more stock than they know about so you must go LOOK .

Happy hunting ! it's good excersise too .

(doesn't seem to help my spelling tho')

Are you sure they were made in Japan?  We have a Koyo right around the corner from where I live :)

Wow that is a huge difference in price! mercedessource is sorta in between...their kit includes a transmission mount and is about $65 https://mercedessource.com/node/762

I'm wondering if there is any difference in the quality of rubber...and am hoping the group will weigh in. I'm going to have to replace mine soon...my mechanic said they were pretty worn, but the PO said she had them changed (since Feb).

So I'm wondering if they got changed with used ones...or maybe there are motor mounts that are cheap but don't last long?

Even companies like Timken are manufacturing off shore. They specify
higher quality standards to the manufacturers, supposedly.
