The problem is close to this. There is allot of pinkish foam in the overflow tank. There is a big gob at the top when I open the cap. The water/coolant level is good and there is no overflow problem. The transmission fluid seems stable also so a small amount of transmission fluid may be making all the foam. The car runs as well as it always has. Questions (1) how safe is it to run in this condition. (2) does it look like a replacement of the radiator because the transmission coolant leak is the problem Thanks! :)

My mechanic (who I respect highly and has always done me well) has shown me that the water in my radiator reservoir has turned a color close to pink.  He says the only thing he thinks it can be is leakage from the transmission fluid reservoir that sits below the radiator into the radiator water itself.  He wants to replace my radiator (I have an after market brand now that I've had for about 7 years) and then put water in the radiator with a cleaning fluid and flush several times after driving.  He also says I might need a replacement radiator reservoir. I was wondering if anyone else has seen a condition like this before or if there are any other ideas.  I'm in Los Angeles, CA if anyone close by thinks looking at it might help the diagnosis.

Listen to Tom Ben.  Manual calls for ATF.  Dexron.

Hey Gang,

Has anyone used Redline MTL (synthetic gearlube) in the W115 manual gearbox?

RE: [diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '84 300CD Automatic

Do a google search for diesel.  Bill in Oregon

210 miles , most flat out , 3 Oz. Diesel Kleen used , no AC use this tank ~

24.5 MPG and the engine is missing upon heavy acceleration , n the canyons I slowed down so much I had to shift into third gear and pin the throttle , it barely made 3,000 RPM's .

When I afrrived at the Hotel in Lompoc , Ca. this evening , I replaced the dirty primary fuel intake screen and went off in search of diesel fuel , no joy and it's still missing at freeway speeds .

Time for more Startron I guess .

I'm supposed to get up early and drive into Solvang for  a nice breakfast with another car (Triumph TR7) so I'm assuming we'l find Diesel either in Solvang or Buellton .
