My glow plug light flashes after starting. Does that mean a bad glow plug? It
does start hard. Lawrence Rhodes.....

[diesel_mercedes] Coupe Tail Light Photos

Nate and Alan,

I have posted to the Photos a coupe of pictures on my passenger side tail light. The album title is "Coupe Tail Light".

Thanks for a possible offer of replacement parts. I'll wait and see if my lens matches to either of your possible available replacements.

As always, thanks for all of the help and support from this group.

Chip

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : '97 300D

FWIW, I've looked at several of these, the ones Ive seen here in the Northeast have had a lot of rust around the wheel wells. The people in this group clued me into the problem several years ago. Thanks!

IIRC ;

These cars suffered from head gasket failures but by now should have been repaired .

I looked at one once , the paint was low quality (I grew up on Glasurit good German paints)  but otherwise they seem to be good cars . I nearly bought a Station Wagon for SWMBO but instead ran to a W-123 , we both like it .

Have it up on a hoist and walk 'round with a flashlight looking for rust bubbles or primered spots indicating crash damage repairs .

If it runs O.K. and the AC blows ice cold , it's prolly fine ~ these 6 cylinder engines make more power and use less fuel than our old OM616 & 617's but they won't  last a million miles , no worries , just check the lowest price in the Blue Book or other On Line used car price guide , find a price you're comfortable with and stick to it , go with ca$h in hand as now until March are the can't sell used cars months so they're sure to be hungry .

It sounds to me like you're already planning to buy it and just want the go - ahead ~ if it's in good shape , it's a good car , slightly different from your old W-126 .

It'll need you to keep right on top of the regular service and maintenance else it'll soon become a money pit .
