[diesel_mercedes] Re: sunroof

Mercedes Source has a good video on taking the sunroof apart, lubing, and reinstalling it. They might have a source for that "stuff" but my guess is that this is a dealer supply, or Tom Hanson at Classic might be able to find some for you.

My '84 300TD needs something to replace the brush-like material that sort of acts as a "seal" when the sun roof closes. I'm sure there is a proper term for the material, but I don't know what it is; hope I am close enough for folks to respond to my request for suggestions about a source for OEM replacement and/or alternatives.

Whew ;

It's been hot here , they promised 70° weather but it's over 90° F and windy like a mother .

I got up early and washed the '82 240D , broke out the wax and went back to the unfinished wax job from last week , the roof went fine but I noticed lots of stains on the passenger side doors so I dug out my cleaner wax and polished the right front fender and doors , then the trunk lid , went back and slapped a nice coat of Polymer Wetcoat Wax over that and ran out of steam , it's not done yet but it's beginning to look pretty good now .

I've put 377 miles on it since filling it up and the low fuel lamp is *just* beginning to flicker so it appears to be getting better fuel economy too , I'll prolly fill it up to - morrow or Monday @ work during my lunch break , add some more Startron as the primary fuel filter is still dead black .

It's running well , nice and smooth if slow going up the freeway On Ramps ~ trying to merge @ 45 ~ 50 MPH is a bit of a white knuckler .

Tom @ The Mercedes Classic Center sold me two new keys for my '84 European Spec. TD , I'll prolly go try them out to - morrow , having factory keys means you're not only never bothered with sticky locks but you're also not beating the poor old 30 year old locks up with 47th generation copies...

-Nate
