Personally,I've never had to replace an alternator. Just the regulators. And even then, I found a source for replacement brushes and have been using the same regulator for almost 13 years now until it finally actually died electronically last year.
I salvaged the brushes before I threw it out.
I currently have 5 used alternators in my stockpile.
Still, I would rather refresh than replace.
Are these great cars or what?
