There I thought LA was in the desert, it gets way too much rain to be desert, I once lived in a town that gets 200" per year, & LA only gets 16" per year.

Well, I guess I don't feel AS bad about our lack of 60 degree days in March.  The last time we reached that temperature was December 13!  Also, we haven't had a dry day since February 12!  I know it's Oregon, the Pacific North WET, but...?
It must be the global cooling?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] big leak

Two thoughts:

a) I think I remember one of Kent's (mercedessource) videos on water leak on the carpeting, and he tracked it back to the start which was in the engine area (the leak runs downhill).

b. On my wife's car I get water under the hood when I wash the car. Apparently the water gets in through the vents by the windows and it piles up in the drain areas. Because this car is parked under trees it accumulates leaves and crud in the drain holes.

The sun is out now and I am going to haul everything out of my car because I found an old VERY WET t-shirt laying on my rear carpet yesterday so am assuming I need to dry out my carpets (ps-same spot Kent had his wet carpet)

Clean out drains under hood hinge and inside cowl. Bet you have a rust hole in left windshield cowl.

I have a 84 300D. I am getting about a 1/8 on H2O on the floorboard on the drivers side. I can not seem to find out where it is coming from. the door seals seem to be tight, it is not the sun roof. Are there any vents I need to check? I am thinking maybe windshield but wanted to know if there are any other ways it can get in. Saw a guy on our craigslist selling a car with the same issue. Kind of weird. Seems like a lot of water.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] big leak

Are you running A/C?  It could be a blocked condensation hose, that is supposed to drain condensate water down to the outside of the car.  If it gets blocked, then the condensate water just builds up under the dash and runs down onto the floor.

RE: [diesel_mercedes] Rain is wet

Jeez, you guys going on about the rain!  And if it didn't rain, the place would be on fire by the end of May, and THEN you would be complaining about all the smoke!

Mark in Lakewood, CO (Complaining about all the smoke.  We could really USE some rain, snow, something....)

Thinking about giving Mary a nickname. Something like Rain Dove, or Canoe Kid, or Fish Lady. You get the idea - rain, rain, and more rain. We are going to have a bumper crop of roses and veggies, but it is really time for a little warm air here in "sunny So. Cal."

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Sagging Rear Update

Here are some pix of my 84 300D spring swap-out. I got the springs they sell at autohausaz.com and also the thickest rubber spacer shim or whatever it's called. Springs are dangerous to work with. I'm just a weekend mechanic and this job was a bit of a pain to do. My shocks were good but if they weren't I would have put new back in instead of the old...no extra work to do that since I had to take the shocks out and put them back in anyway. I bought the spring compressor tool from someone on ebay.
