[diesel_mercedes] Home Again =8-)

 

I didn't take full note of the start and finish mileage as SWMBO always tells me to but it was a long haul .

I used one , maybe two quarts of oil and 1/2 quart of ATF, that after cresting 9,400 + ' on BIA Rt 13 East of Red Rock , the 14% grade slowed the poor old 240D down to 5 MPH  per the GPS but other than that one mountain , the car ran better and better the higher up I drove .

I got home Sunday evening and passed out in my recliner , got up Monday and fetched my Puppies from the kennel and yanked out the Lloyd carpets and washed them , hung them up to dry then my back locked up ~ no more worky this week I think .

Took my Daughter in Law out for her Birthday last night , returned home and fell out of the car into the street , landed on my side / back / thigh and couldn't get up for a while , car idling away , door  hanging open , glasses flown off into the gutter .

Turns out I musta gouged my face on the edge of the door on my way down as I have a bloody scratch below my lip...

Getting old sucks , big time .

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '82 240D Slushbox

 

NO A/C .

Startron used , the fuel is now remaining clear so I'll change the clear plastic intake screen the next time I fill it up .

589 miles , low fuel lamp lit @ 538 (note to self : DO NOT listen to idiot Brother when both cars are low on fuel, miles from anywhere and down a dirt road !) .

32.4 MPG .

I'm LOVING this 20 Gallon fuel tank ! .

[diesel_mercedes] OM616 Valve Stem Oil Seals ?

 

O.K. folks ;

It's finally time for me to do a valve job on the 1982 240D .

On the five cylinder models , one is now supposed to use the exhaust guide seal on both intake and exhaust ~ what should I order for this four cylinder ? .
