Re: [diesel_mercedes] W-123 Door Fun
My key has never worked to unlock the pass side door, yet I've never
really looked at what's wrong with it, as the driver's side worked fine.
Maybe it has the same problem as SWMBO's, so I await your pics and
explanation.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] You Eastern guys and rust.
Here in the Southern State we buy Nothern Cars, their motors are amost new.But they have rust and are cheap. We repair rust and send them to Texas, where they"ll never rust again. --- On Thu, 8/23/12, Lawrence Rhodes <primobassoon@sbcglobal.net> wrote:

[diesel_mercedes] You Eastern guys and rust.
Cars out West are so plentiful a used car isn't worth much. Supply and demand.
Many a beautiful body goes to the junk yard because a transmission or engine is
gone. If you have a good power train the best way to fix a rusty body is to get
one from somewhere in the rust free zone of the West and install your good parts
in it. Coastal cars do rust here so buyer beware. Lawrence Rhodes....
[diesel_mercedes] Re : M-110 6 Cyl. Gas Engine
I don't know if ' despised ' it quite right but , it's an InLine , DOHC 6 cylinder engine that revs pretty freely and was able to easily propel the big , heavy W-126 Chassis cars along quite nicely .
It's a thirsty beast though .
I see a fair few with broken cam followers , not sure if this is due to DIY works or old age , some DOHC Engines spit cam parts when over revved in thier older age , breaking delicate alloy cylinder head parts that easily exceed the value of the car to repair .

[diesel_mercedes] Re: W-123 Door Fun
Well no ;
That's a door handle repair and I have to replace the latch proper .
It turns out that forgetting the new (used) latch 30 + miles away doesn't help the job go any easier and , once you have both rear doors apart and in tiny pieces all over the rear foot wells , is _not_ the best time to discover the big bundle of N.O.S. vacuum chambers you've been dragging 'round in the trunk for several years , is no longer there , not in the Coupe's trunk , nor your truck , nor anywhere in your garage , house etc........
*SIGH* .
In the end , I just ordered up another new vacuum chamber but by the time it arrived at the Parthaus , I was miles away so I'll attack it again to - day .
