You didn't describe the noise but I'd shoot some Motocycle Chain Lube into the open ball joint and try it again ~ I bet the joint has gone dry and is groaning / squeaking as it unloads and loads the suspension .

If not that , try spraying Aerosol Silicone lube into the various rubber bushings , if that quiets it for a moment , consider a front end rebuild .

Ripped ball joint dust seals can be really dangerous .

Well since you didn't kick me out for having a 77 280SE gasser, I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on this.

I have front end noise when accelerating, decelerating or driving at app. 10-15 mph.

I change the tei rods my self, the alignment is adjusted but car pull to the right.  Ball joint boot is ripped.

It just started about an hour ago and has me a little concerned.

Thanks so much!

I have an SD like Mark.  W116 body.  General vacuum issues that I need to sort.  Over-the-winter project hopefully.

Thanks Nate.  You know I did get the servo to work so it adjust the inside heat on this gasser.  (Turned out to be loose tubes to the servo).

That's too bad Mike ;

You prolly could have made some decent $ by parting it out .

You needn't leave , there's a very diverse group of enthusiasts here , enjoy your Gasser and ask questions as necessary .

I have new hood insulator pads on my various 'Benz .

I use the more expen$ive better quality ones that have the aluminum foil heat deflector .

IIRC the last time I did one I used a plastic scraper to remove the old crumbly foam bits ~ what a messy job .

Anyone who mastered the Evil Klima I Servo is O.K. to remain here ! .

Oddly , after I got mine to work perfectly , I sold the car and do not plan to ever own another Klima I / Air Temp II equipped vehicle =8-) .

Do the plastic plugs look like this?  1961 Merc Bill in Oregon

In truth ;

All older German Mechanics can tell you about biodegradable German plastics ~ VW was infamous for this all through the 1960's & 1970's .

I've had several of these simply snap off in my hand , most recently Tom and I had to make a !hurry up quick before they close ! Sunday afternoon  Pick-A-Part run to look for one , most of the 1990's vintage Mercedes' there used a different plug .

I got lucky and found _one_ (whew !) .

Back when I was fooling with long neglected cooling system in our various old M-B's , I kept at least one of these plugs and it's special gasket , in the ash tray at all times .

[diesel_mercedes] MB W-115 Video

Very nice Brian ! .

The first part where they're out just traveling, if you replace it with a W-126 it could be Tom and I except you know , we're not young or hip and we believe in personal grooming .

Swap it for a battered W-123 and it'd be me off in the middle of nowhere , no need to restore your old 'Benz , just take good care of it and keep after the routine maintenance .
