You'd best change that clean intake screen RIGHT NOW then go to Pep Boys who has them on the shelf and buy as many as you can, either clean them out by spraying starting fluid through them backwards or replace until they begin to be clean again .

Prolly time to stock up on secondary fuel filters too .

I've been buying various brands of filters by the case off E-Bay, plenty out there once you know the proper part #'s to look for, Amazon also often has case lots .

Pay the Piper a little now or much more later, your choice .

I will have one tomorrow. She's down to 3/4 tank and still a little rough. Start kinda hard. I want to wait until I am at 1/2 tank, then top it off again. That will knock the ratio down sufficiently I hope to let it go.
I will be changing the oil pretty soon too. Don't want ANY gas in the oil.

 Thanks Max.
I just don't want to goof up the pump. Fortunately it's a wet sump design, so it will be hard to wreck. I just don't want to be one of those who will be saying, "Well, it WAS a nice car!"
One positive side effect, the clear fuel filter is now black as can be. I must have extincted the bacteria and washed the little critters out of the tank! When this is done, I am going to replace it.

[diesel_mercedes] Gasoline Contamination

Considering all the grief I've had with IP's and bad fuels, I'd drain the tank and discard the fuel ~ it makes very good weed killer but that's a no-no these days so just jug it and leave curb side on trash day for the recycle folks, don't waste time telling them it's contaminated fuel, they deal with it daily .

My main worry would be lack of lubrication in the injection pump .

Hey folks,
I did a real bonehead the other day. I put in about 7 gallons of premium
fuel. I did not fill it. It was nearly empty when I put it in, so the
ratio was pretty high afterwards. Naturally, it ran really bad. So I
hightailed it to another gas station and topped it with about 10 gallons
of diesel. It now runs fair, but still smokes and bucks. I figure I am
about 50-50 right now.
I talked to an oldtimer about this and he said that as long as it runs
well enough to take it on the road, I should add some motor oil and
drive it out. I put about a cupful in and it did seem to help a little,
but obviously, I need to just use this stuff up.
Is adding a little more motor oil going to help, or should I just put up
with it and get on?
