Re: [diesel_mercedes] Lada Niva

This is exactly what I'm doing, but wondering if I take the filter out if it will wreck the motor. Max

My solution to this problem is to put a small shop vac ($30 type at Home Depot) outside the house and use a pool hose instead of the short hose that comes with the vacuum. The pool hose  is 30 feet in length; I got it on on Craigsl;ist for a few bucks and then adapted it with cheap plumbing fittings and hose clamps at the vacuum and at the tool end. All the dust is out of the house. If this solution is unacceptable for whatever reason, the pool hose could be used to chanel the vacuum exhaust out of the house; a less desirable solution, imo.

Did you check out automatic photo albums in Yahoo Groups?
When you send mail to your Yahoo Group with photos attached, a photo album with attached photos is automatically created. When your group members reply to the email with photo attachments, those photos are added to the 'photomatic' albums automatically!

Re: [diesel_mercedes] The smell of diesel in the morning...

Don't screw with them. As an emergency measure snip of the end and
reattach. You will need long nosed pliers. They get old and seep. Any
good auto parts store can get them but they are sometimes not on the shelf.

Snip away. I (like others) always buy extra hose from a dealer (or others) and carry it in the trunk for such times. If two went out, why not replace them all and be done with it as they are all probably the same age.

RE: [diesel_mercedes] Vacuuming Ashes out of brake system

I have had the master cylinder go out while bleeding the brakes in older (1950’s) cars; once or twice. You could have that done and see how it works out.

The price of a new master cylinder is cheap compared to going into another car.  Bill in Oregon

I had a very strange thing happen yesterday as I was speeding into town in my 240, I came up to the T intersection hit the brakes, mush, sort of slowed down. Barely made the stop. Limped into town, dropped off the car at the Les Schawb for alignment, told them the brakes just went out. When I picked up the car the brakes were back to normal. No fluid loss, they just felt like they needed to be bled. The guys at the shop said your master cylinder is going out? What do you guys think? Max

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Vacuuming Ashes

No, No, of course I wouldnt that. I have a long hose connected and the shopvac sits out side. It sucks good for about 2 or 3 minutes, but cleaning my stove no matter how careful, well, ashes, you know, in the house. I'm just trying to find the cleanest method. Outback is thousands of acres so ash blown out there is no big deal. Yes you can BUT you'd best connect a secondary vacuum hose to the blow side of the shop vac. or your whole house will turn grey inside.....

     Max Asked :

Does anyone know if you can take out the filter on a shop-vac and just suck stuff right tru? I want to use it for sucking ashes out of my stove but the filter plugs up real fast. ??????????????????????? Max

thanks in advance!

Re: [diesel_mercedes] The smell of diesel in the morning...

Don't remember the size but I've always bought it from the dealer.  You won't have to reprime, those are return lines.
