Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Window problems

As I remember it, the voltage feeds through the switches to the motors.  The switch selects a ground to complete the circuit and determine which direction the motor runs.

Is voltage arriving at the switches?

It sounds like a single point of failure somewhere. Doubt if it's four separate failures.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Wheels for 300 TD

Sorry, let me rephrase the question. I can't fine 14" tires that I'm willing to pay for. I'm currently running 195/70x14 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's.High load rating because I do use my wagon, great grip and handing. To dated I've put 67,000 hard miles and still showing tread. Bridgestone/Firestone has quit making performance 14" tires, Been running Firestones for over 30 years.

Good idea Nate, I will check that out.

Look at the fuse schematic under the fuse box cover and see what else runs on that fuse .

For starters I'd suggest un plugging the wiper switch at the base of the steering column mast jacket under the dahs , if that stops the fuse popping , you'll know what area the short is in.

The connections are clean. Yea, the switches are new. Don't think there is a problem there.

Did you test the switch resistance to make sure they are working? I doubt if new switches are bad...

Maybe the connector(s) have crud in them?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Wheels for 300 TD

Ah yes stage 3 tires, rubber bands for the road.  Actually it would take a little figuring but you can pick a size that will come close to the circumference of the original size.  My 300SD came with 15" wheels and 225 70 15" tires if I remember correctly.  Probably not the optimum size, but conveniently the same size as the ones on my 87 560SEL.  No acceleration problems there.

As mentioned ;

14" tires are cheap & plentiful .

Of course if you want 15" wheels that's fine too , just be aware they'll seriously hinder your acelleration....

Will improve acceleration but your mpg will get worse.
