Can anyone tell me how the fuel is distributed in this model Mercedes? I'm wondering if it is electronically controlled. Anyone know if they'll run well on biodiesel? Thanks, Brad

Why, its so cold when I peee...., its been so cold when I spit it's frozen before it hits the ground. Ha, ha, I remember my dad telling that stuff when I was little, I bet my eyes got real big, little kid in Garden Grove, never even seen ice before. Well, it was cold, I just read Pullman hit a low record of minus 12 and a record high of under 20. Right now its mid 30's. Lots of snow everywhere, super icy roads. Hey, I finally got a winter car, I found a $300 Turdsel, not bad either. As the Mercedes hunker down for the duration out in the cave. Zion, you lucky dog. Max

The opposite is also true. I keep waiting for the glow plugs to time out on my 560SELThat is the drill I follow, and it works for me. Listen for the click in cold weather. In warm weather I am not so careful. Once a year I forget that I am in a diesel and just pop the key, which does not work at all of course - hard to break old habits.

FWIW ;
It's been in the low 30° F's of late so I was interested in my cold start drill , I leave the glow plugs on after the lamp goes out , about 25 seconds total glow time (lamp goes out in 15 seconds) and it lights off in 1/2 revolution of the engine with 1/3 throttle .
I do need to keep it idling by applying *slight* pressure to the foot feed .
If you're in cold weather country , try timing your glow plugs ~ they heat until the relay makes a loud 'CLICK' so practicing to not use the starter until *just* before the relay clicks off , will ensure rapid cold starting well below freezing .
Remember to _not_ let off the starter until it's running on all cylinders ! .

I am confused !
Where I live, Rochester NH and all the way to Stratham NH where I work(about a 40 mile trip), gas is $3.20 to 3.40, and Diesel 3.65 (not for long) to 3.90, HOWEVER, 40 miles north of Rochester heading to N.Conway NH, gas is 3.30 to 3.70 and Deisel is 3.25 to 3.35.
Whats going on here ? Why the dramatic reversal of prices ? It would not be volume of diesel as N.Conway is a vacation area, hence less diesel trucks.
To bad I was driving the Girlfriends car, if I was in the 300d, I would have filled both the diesel and grease tanks and drianed the grease tank when I got home.
