Sounds like IP issues, since I know your engine's fresh....

O.K. , we drove (I drove , she rode , stop nit picking) to Las Vegas for the weekend , bumper to bumper stop and go traffic all the way from Los Angeles to Las Vegas _AND_ back again , GRrrr........

I had the AC on full tilt boogie the entire time , lots and lots of idling when I'd run into some store or whatever and SWMBO would sit in the idling car with the AC going.....

First tank 423 miles 27.2 MPG

Second tank 380 miles 27.4 MPG .

I still have about 1/3 a tank to finish yet .

The engine is beginning to smoke more than I like , oil smoke , light blue and it uses a quart of oil before 400 miles , not correct .

It also blows out a cloud of black fuel smoke every time I leave a dead stop .

Stay tuned , I'll be dipping into it pretty soon .

The intake fuel screen remains clean , I've been using 4 Oz. of Startron and 4 Oz. of MMO each fillup .

That's it , I'm beat & going to bed , see if I can make it to work to - morrow or not .

Nate,

Well here you go again. It's know like you don't know every square inch of my car. Probably ever nut and screw (although it kind of weird know that you know my girl better than I do.)

So you left me with "It's probably your evaporator tray". Hell Nate, you probably eat your scrammed eggs in the morning from a spare evaporator tray you picked up from some Pick a Part that has everything in the world for these increasing rare cars that I can't find a damn thing for when I try.

You told me what it is, but it would be great to know where it is, as in what side, what shape, how far back in that jungle of wires and tubes.

Mostly kidding Nate, you are such a great resource for this board, but you are way over my head. I need your Special Ed. version on how to get the lake out of my back seat.

No AC out of the center vents. But no biggie on that front (put I'll take how to fixes on that) just as soon as I extricate Lake Pontchartrain from my passenger side back seat well.

Thanks Bobby Yates Emory (great name! bound to be Southern}
Ground under my turbo coupe dryer than the Texas sand after AC has run for any length of time. No question Bobby, she is holding water. Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like you are right. Now, if Nate would tell me where the damn drain tube is located!

[diesel_mercedes] water pump bolt I can not reach question 1978 300D

Hello All

I am trying to change the water pump on my 1978 300D.
I have removed the radiator, fan & fan shroud.

There is one bolt on the water pump I can not reach with a wrench or socket. There is a large bracket that seems to hold the power steering pump in the way. I removed the obvious bolts holding the bracket and it still does not move.

I posted photos in the photo section in an album called
"Rodger's Questions"

Please advise.

thank you
Rodger
