The guys in Feasterville keep coming up with absolutely beautiful cars with astronomic prices.  I also wasn't aware of an 86 6 cyl version.  We had an "87 6 cyl Diesel wagon which was a great car.  There were stories of problems with cylinder cracking on these cars.

Other than the price which seems kind of high, any comments on this one?

I confess I didn't realize there was a 6 cyl 300 SDL....I just assumed they were all 5 cyl.

Claims to be a Californian car, 64K mi, now for sale just outside of Philly.

In many ways it's the 300 SD I've always wanted as it has dual airbags and ABS...however, I can only imagine what they would cost to repair (if repairable) should that be required, and these have to be 1st gen airbags and ABS - at least for US market.

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '84 European 300TD Automatic

307 miles , 21.6 MPG ~ kind of low mileage considering it makes _zero_ smoke at all loads & speeds .

It does go like a rocketship though .

[diesel_mercedes] Throttle Linkage '81 240D Automatic

Thanx Bill ! .

None of those worked so I tried modifying your search , replacing ' 240D ' with 300D then 116 and still nothing .

It looks like I'll have to schlepp on out to the Yards and do some walking ~ you know how much I HATE Junk Yards , right ? .

  . . . .

It drives about the same, shifts O.K. etc. but shouldn't wear out the throttle linkage parts I now need to go find in some junkyard or off some dead NA engine .

Looking underneath revealed it's been leaking a fair bit of engine oil in addition to the normal dribbling of ATF so I jacked up the front of the car and crawled underneath it with two cans of degreaser and a new paint brush and go to work ~ it's *much* cleaner now , hopefully I'll be able to find the oil  leak soon .

I took one picture of the clean engine and will prolly post it to - morrow .    - Nate
