RE: [Diesel-RVs] biodiesel

Just a point of information. I was able to buy soy bio
yesterday in Parker, AZ at the Western Oil facilty.
They had both 100 % and 20 % mix for sale.

It did cost $3.30 per gallon for 100%.

Jeep runs good on it.

This was made in Iowa and trucked in 1000 gallon lots.

We are going to see more of this if we ask?

[diesel_mercedes] 72 280SE, cracked tranny case, $400.00 OBO in Salt Lake City near perfect otherwise

And I have a spare tranny in my parts car. Mechanical kickdown type. Question
is this: will my 79 300TD tranny bolt up to this engine?

I'm guessing it will since the tranny interface is bolted onto the blocks (as
opposed to being part of the casting). Just wanna make sure.

Take a look

Does Ursula's mileage ever change?

Yes, it does. She now has 267K miles. When I bought her, she only had
264K. She has been sitting until recently when I had the squeaky
passenger's side lower ball joint replaced. Now that she's safe and
reliable, she's been on the road (1000 miles in the past 3 months.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: From 77 240 to 85 300TD. Pros and cons.

Yep ;

Aftermarket pre - filter , clean it _gently_ and post up as much of the
label as you can find , we'll hook you up with replacement filters for
it .

'85's often have a different cannister typ air filter located behind
the right side headlight , these also have the usualy plugged u
particle filter trap on the exhaust manifold , wash the car and tak it
to yourmercedes dealer ask them to perform the recall fix and they'll
do if free , the car will run *SO* much better you'll be astounded .

My buddy bought one and fully loaded with loaed kids running flat out
on the open highway , it returned over 35 MPG's..

Enjoy ! it's a nice car .

Re: [Diesel-RVs] Re: unknown vibration when coasting

Gerry,
If the " U " joints were removed for towing, it is a great possibility that when they were reinstalled, some of the needle bearings might have got dislodged and did not get put back into the fingers. If some of those bearing are missing, the " U " joint will go bad. Chuck B

[diesel_mercedes] What to put between nozzle holder and injector body to prevent leaks?

Folks:

I built and installed injectors with #265 rather than #240 nozzles.  The 265's are much more tolerant of variance in pop pressures: they start going psst at 1000 pounds and keep doing it up to about 2300.  This means that when your springs get old and start opening early once they are hot, your engine won't miss from an injector going pfft (instead of psst) at 1800 pounds.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to seal the injector body to the nozzle holder and retweak nozzle reeds (injector heat shields) so that they can be used again,

Any one have any ideas?

[Diesel-RVs] Re: What weather program to use ??

Air Sports Net is cool because of presentation-colorful graphs. But, it can load slow on a slow connection. And, it only gives 3 days without a subscription. It's focus is wind, and being r/c flyers, we focus on wind. Seems pretty accuract, but I think all the weather sites get their weather from the same source.

[Diesel-RVs] Re: unknown vibration when coasting

Check your ride-height. If it is off, you will get vibration and eventually have your U-joints eaten up.
