I know it is bad form to reply to my own email, but I've received no
interest whatsoever from anyone about this car. It appears that no one
wants it so it's going off to be sold as scrap unless someone steps in
and takes it.

It's free. Such a deal. You'll just have to wait a little to get it
until I have my new car. Possibly before Thanksgiving.

Slipping a deep socket on "first" then snaking a "thin" ratchet
extension to the socket helps in tight spots.

Brian,

If I remember correctly, you can remove the glowplugs with a 1/4" ratchet w/ extensions, deep socket, and a flex or universal joint adapter. Removing the wire is still a PITA.

I was at 350,000 on Martha a few years ago. Whenever I fix the odometer, I may get to 400,000 - or I may just sit at 350,000 for another 10 years.

No, I think I will only ream when the engine is out and I have 3 feet on all sides to work. But, I am down to cylinder #2 and #5 so life marches on - will do #2 today, and #5 when I feel the urge, which may be never.
