No events, low power on take off, but she has been free from the chains of bondage of a shade tree trying to fix her AC and pulling her dash right out by the vacuum lines.
So, here is the first hurt. The AC ran all through the south-land and keep everything and everyone cool, coming through heat and humidity that old scratch would be proud of. No AC out of the center vents. But no biggie on that front (put I'll take how to fixes on that) just as soon as I extricate Lake Pontchartrain from my passenger side back seat well.
Where the hell did that water come from and how did it get way back there.
Answers please.
Chip
In Houston, happy to have her back, even with the lake.
[diesel_mercedes] Re : Here comes the hurt again.
WELCOME HOME ! .
The lake is most likely water from the AC's in dash evaporator , there's a drain tube that clogs with dust , mud dauber wasp nets or simply rots away occasionally (it's rubber) .
The center vents have a flapper that can remain closed for several reasons , as I'm in Las Vegas where it reached 107* F & was still 104* F @ 6:00 PM , I walked into the Dollar Store across the parking lot from where SWMBO & her childhood friend were shoe shopping and bought a $1 , 12" long screwdriver , got back in the car with the paper windshield shade in place and shone my flashlight down the center vents until I could sort of see the flapper (when it's closed it's horizontal) and ever so gently poked at it , it turns out the trailing edge closest to you , raises up 1.5" or so , then you can slide a dowel (I used my tire pressure gauge) to hold the flapper open and when you turn on the AC again , dust will blow onto your clean shirt along with mass quantities of ice cold air =8-) .
I hope this helps , I was *really* afraid of breaking the flapper or other plastic / rubber parts in there but I was _dying_ in the heat
BTW : Ida is doing quite well in her new Govt. Senior Apartment .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Here comes the hurt again.
Chip,
From reading the posts - one likely source is the drain for the sunroof. If you open the sunroof, I think the drain is in the each front corner. You could pour a little water in them and see if it comes out the bottom of the car. I think the outlet is behind the front wheel and an inch or so in.
If someone knows more about this, please chime in.
On most cars, the A/C condensate drain comes out underneath about underneath the passenger's left foot. This is the easiest thing to check in Houston - crank up the car, turn on the A/C, and come back in five minutes. If there is a puddle under the car, the A/C drain is OK. If no puddle, fix the A/C drain.
Good luck.
(I have a 300CD also, but mine is not turbo. It is still in N.C. The DPO removed the floor mats, so I assume I have the same problem. My A/C does not work, so I don't think that is my problem. Sooner or later, I will be tracing those sunroof drains.)
Please let us know what you find - the rest of us need to know - including what didn't work.
Bobby
