To - day I got 500 miles out of one tank of Diesel in my 1982 Mercedes 240D, I think that's pretty good ~ I've been running the AC flat out and often leave the car idling with Shirley in it as I run to drop mail in the box or things like that .
There's some fungus infestation so I'm adding Biobor Diesel fuel treatment and changing the filters, the dead fungus debris is very fine now so I hope I'm near the end .
At the last empty tank I swapped out the enclosed fuel sender with a junkyard one I'd purchased, disassembled and cleaned, it works O.K. except for the low fuel lamp that never came on .
I was hoping to run the tank dry to suck out as much of the fungus debris as possible but Shirley gets nervous so I stopped for Diesel fuel *just* as the odometer rolled to 500 miles .
I pulled into a shady spot at the filling station and changed out the fuel sender for the original one that has a working low fuel lamp contact .
I filled up with Propel brand bio Diesel, not veggie oil .
25MPG ~ I used to get 27 ~ 30 but this is the highest fuel mileage I've gotten in some time now .
376,000 miles, time for another hot oil and filter change then let the engine cool down and check and adjust the valves again .
Maybe to - morrow after the roofer comes and gives me a quote to re do my foam flat roof .
