[diesel_mercedes] w110 200d rear axle removal [6 Attachments]

[Attachment(s) from Dexter Barney dexterbarney437@yahoo.com [diesel_mercedes] included below]

We are trying to remove the rear axle to get the rear outer bearings.  We have used a slide hammer and a tool we made that mounts on the wheel and have been pulling pretty hard but can't get anything to move.  All the pictures and diagrams I have looked at show no C-Clip on the end of the axle in the differential that we have to remove, and the differential doesn't split in half to easily get inside.  There is a big whole that seems to be an access hole to remove these nuts that supposedly holds in a plate, and that plate holds in the axle instead.  We took all those off but no luck.  I took some pictures, and the one on the back of the wheel there seems to be a bolt or nut that I highlighted and I am thinking that might be holding it in.  Any ideas?Inline image

My wife found a 3" round clear plastic part under her car a few days ago. It has three numbers (126, 116, 123) followed by 987 01 45. I assume it is a protective cap for the transmission. Rather than crawl under the car I thought I would ask your collective wisdom about it.  Thanks.

[diesel_mercedes] Quiet

Ouch Max ;

It's always difficult for those who are left behind .

I've lost quite a few over the years , not looking forward to any more but there will be .

As it turned out , we had a wonderful Thanksgiving ~ four generations in the house at once , plus our Teenaged Foster boys and my Brother Tom .

So much food we barely made a dent in it , it's now Sunday afternoon and I had a toasted ham & cheese sandwich for lunch and just now peach cobbler for dinner's desert......

Whew .

Friday there was a Sta. Monica Mountains fun drive , only four of us showed up , Tom in his 300SDL 6 cylinder , me in SWMBO's '82 240D slushbox , plus two MGB's , one of them threw a fan blade in the mountains , as it flew off it ruptured the bottom of the new custom made radiator.....

We soldiered on and had fun plus good eats at the end , Tom's alternator brushes wore out so he decided to replace the broken driver's seat until the sun went down then we had a nerve wracking drive across most of L.A. in the dark with no lights......

I gave him a new BOSCH voltage regulator and he slipped it in in a jiffy Saturday morning , it's fine now .

Three weeks ago yesterday one of my best friends put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Went out shopping in the morning so her husband would have plenty of supplies. what can you say when someone calls you up and drops the bomb? He is having a very hard time, how could he  not? Pretty much what Nate said is pretty much all we can do. Live it while we can. Hope your making it Bill. Never get over this stuff, but somehow have to keep living. Max

I hope all here are ready for THANKSGIVING ? .

Here it comes .

We lost a nice Lady @ work Saturday evening ~ she was only 51 or so , had difficulty breathing and expierd rapidly . remember to GO SEE YOUR CHILDREN / SIBLINGS /  PARENTS as to - morrow is never promised .
