[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Checks

 

1984 300CD slushbox, AC used, 394 miles, 20.9 MPG ~ this is terrible .

I'm also beginning to see tiny oil spatters on the left side of the trunk and taillight again, the power is very good but this dropping fuel economy is a bad thing indeed .

Not seeing any smoking in the headlights of the cars behind me tho'....

Sounds like you have a bit of work to do to keep your cars moving ahead.

Let us know how it goes.

I thought of you when I put a skid plate under my 300D, remembering your stories from many years ago about hitting the oil pan, leading to donor cars, etc. The Skid Plate was on eBay a few years ago, from Germany, yet I think it was aftermarket, and needed a few tweaks to get it to fit. I doubt I'll ever hit the plate, yet if I do, hopefully it helps.
