[diesel_mercedes] Spring Time Chores

With all this warm weather, my mind is turning toward Spring Time Chores such as (a) take the air cleaner off and tighten everything down, (b) put the new rear left door checks in both cars, (c) put a new map case on Mary's driver door, (d) new brakes on Martha, (e) inventory all the parts I have laying around and make a list of anything I want to snatch from local PAP's, (f) get my wife's radio and A/C operational again, (g) and maybe look underneath for clunks that need to be cured. Waxing both cars is a given.

If the transmission is shifting a lot on a twisty steep uphill I put it in S and when going down the same hill I use S.

On a rough dirt road I use first. The car tells me which to uses, if it is shifting a bunch I help it by selecting a lower gear.

What a joy to have automatics, used to drive a "two sticker" 5 gears in the main and 4 in the aux, kinda fun when you needed to shiftem both at the same time, I hate driving standards nowadays.

I would just leave it in Drive and let it shift down on its own when it needs it, unless you need to pass and it has issues down shifting when floored.
