RE: [diesel_mercedes] Window regulator 1984 300D

I could make a guess of a short or the motor is jammed and pulling all the current, so you see zero volts.

Take a look at some of these youtube videos. Let us know how it turns out.  Bill in Oregon

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Window regulator 1984 300D

Been a while since I had an issue to come here with. now I have two.

1. The driver window will not go up or down. I removes the door panel. Checked for voltage. Both the green and black wire have approx. 12.4 volts with key on.  Hit the up button, voltage drops to 0.  Hit the down button, voltage drops to 0 in the other wire.  Is this the way it is supposed to be. If so, is the motor toast. What do I do next? Seems backwards to me. I thought the wire would have no volts till switch is pushed then would go up to 12 volts.

2. Glove box latch is not working properly. Is there a repair kit for these? Do not like using the bungie cord. Looks kind of trashy.

Any help would be great.

thanks, Nick

Re: [diesel_mercedes] What material is the steering wheel

Basically it's plastic and new steering wheels are still available.

Laura,

1.  If you are flexible about the appearance:  Fill with JB Weld.  Sand smooth.  Cover with a leather cover.

2.  If you want to retain the "look":  Find a similar replacement - does not have to be in good condition or complete.  Sand off the ugly surface in a small area of the replacement.  Using a coarse file, grind off a pile of plastic.  Get some clear epoxy.  Mix the plastic "sand" with the epoxy.  Smooth on the cracks in current wheel.  Sand to shape.  Sand with finer and finer grades of sandpaper until shiny.

(Option 2 can produce a beautiful result - I've seen the pictures.  But, I bet it takes a lot of work and time.  I would pick a section of the  replacement that looks like the damage on your current wheel - and practice repairing that section to find what works.)

Bobby

Email me your VIN for the third brake light (or tell me what color you want) and I'll see if a new one is still available. For seats go to www.gahh.com .

[diesel_mercedes] Star tron. Fuel additive. Diesel enzyme. Tank Cleaner. Starbrite.

There is gas, diesel & tank cleaners.  Will they work with vegetable oil?  It's very expensive.  What is the best way to use it?  Lawrence Rhodes
