[diesel_mercedes] Garret T3 Turbo Overhaul

 


O.K. ;

I just ordered in the major overhaul kit and upgraded 360 degree thrust impeller shaft from O-Pop (?) and they say I should have it by Friday 2.1.19  .

I plan to cherry pick the loose bunch of turbo parts Rob kindly gave me and build up a pre 1983 spec. turbo without the A.I.R. shifting valve / bypass thing .

I'll also install a set of non EGR  intake and exhaust manifolds .

This should be a good project, clean up the under hood of my '84 300CD and increase perhaps the power and fuel economy a bit at the same time .

I'm very unhappy with the current 22 MPG's ~ I feel it should get at least 25 MPG consistently .

We'll see, stay tuned .

I'm not sure what I'll do with the already overhauled 1984 turbo, hopefully someone will want to buy it .

Low fuel lamp on @ 417 miles .

Biobor used , some AC use . mixed city & freeway driving .
