[diesel_mercedes] new radiator alternative

If a replacement radiator is too expensive you could seal off the tranny fittings on your radiator.  Then install an aftermarket transmission fluid cooler.  This would actually cool your tranny fluid better that the inside radiator cooler does. You will need to cap off the holes where the lines went to your radiator so coolant doesn't seep out if there really is an internal leak.

Was poking around the web last night and found this.

I am a subscriber to the mag but rearly visit their site, but while crusing the web for info on my latest aquisition, a 73 Kelmark GT (Bug based) I scooted on over to the GRM site and was suprised to find the above in their project car section. They are know for doing some weird stuff, it will be funt to see if they try and get some more power out of it and make it an autocross car. They blew up their last family sedan, a Camery twice, hoping the Benz dowe not share the same fate.

[diesel_mercedes] Auto Tranny Coolers

Max ;

The intank ATF cooler you have now is more than sufficient~ it also serves to keep the ATF at proper operating temperature .

Too cold ATF is a very bad thing .

If you want to add a larger tranny cooler , you'd be wise to retain the intank one and add a by pass thermostat like is done on Heavy Duty applications .

       Max Asked :

Has anyone put in a "real" transmission cooler on their Mercedes. I wonder what the temp is down at the bottom of the radiator. Max

[diesel_mercedes] Leaky Bolt

 Yes Mike ;

It might .

Still and all , it's a temporary repair ~ the alloy water pump housing is available new and isn't overly expensive .

-Nate

       Mike Asked :

I have a coolant leak problem.  It is because one bolt hole is stripped that bolts the water pump housing on thus causing the leak.

Might Alumseal work for that?  Thanks.

 Mike
