Re: [diesel_mercedes] 300TD 3rd Row Seat Belts

I'm actually kinda proud of that packing job.
If I remember correctly I got it all in a gallon Ziploc bag.

Well
packed, I can't wait to get the time to unwind and clean
them, the TD is in the garage as the 240D and 300CD both
have more pressing repairs to do first .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Endless Tinkering

Games with kids are good ways to keep the mind working good. My mom made it to 2 months shy of a 100. Also diapers are for the other end, drool into something else. Max

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Gasoline in your Diesel Fuel

Summer diesel, no.2, actually works with quite cold temps. I've  used it all winter on my generator. I used to always get my 300 gallon tank filled in summer. In all my years of using diesel(over 40 years) even in extremely cold winters(not Minnesota) I've only had problems once, on a -20 night. That was when I was running a 3 cylinder Kubota all night. I had to dig out the big filter and change it, and then all was good. After that I moved the filter into the generator room, never had that problem again, even running summer diesel. What really happens is the paraffin separates from the fuel and collects on the filter, and you cant really clean it off and re-use it, just have to replace it. I've never had it clog a fuel line. Mark is absolutely correct about living in cold country, when it gets cold the fuel comes winterized. The old method was a 50/50 blend with no.1 diesel. Supposed to be good down to about -40 I think. ? Why not just grab a one or two galloncontainer and run it dry, change the filters, fill and prime it, drive on happily ? .

When it runs dry some crud will be sucked out of the tank (if any is in there) and be caught in the clear plastic intake screen....

When you get to the Filling Station you can add some Winter anti gelling Diesel Kleen (! White bottle !) stuff and be ready for the cold weather .

I filled her today. In Wisconsin, they automatically change the blend as the weather cools. No need for anti-gel unless you are running some old fuel.

That video we watched was also just theory, IMHO. He really did not know what happened to that engine. Perhaps it was run out of time or the guy put those injectors in a worn out engine. He was guessing. When I found out about the fuel, I had driven in only about 35 miles tops. I then added about 10 gallons of good fuel. Later, I threw in a quart of motor oil.

Here we go. More lost sleep.

I am on the last of the gasoline in my car. I dropped the ratio since this happened twice. The first was after about 30 miles, when I dropped it to about 40% and the second, to perhaps 15. I am almost to the fuel light now and that should take it to negligible.

But it has been a harrowing experience. I hope the cold smoking goes away on this fillup.
