Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: What happened to the off topic purge?

It is bad because (1950 Oldsmobile) I saved a buck or two in gas coasting down from Mt. Baldy, and burned the hydramatic out, thereby proving "a penny saved can cost mucho $$."

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : for sale 1984 300SD

Chuck,

Pictures????  How are the tires?  Brakes?  A/C??????  What about interior?  Smoker??  (meaning the driver or passengers, not the car)  Windows?  Do they actually work?

So tired of my car issues.  It's been sitting in the pasture for a couple of weeks now.  Waiting...for $$ for parts and time.  Not sure I (or more importantly Kevin) want to jump back into issues though.  Really rather work a second job to save up and get a car without any tinkering needed...

I don't consider tires, oil changes, filter changes to be tinkering, those are normal upkeep on any vehicle.

Since we're relatively close (in TX terms) I thought I'd check on your car.  Just considering. Of course it would depend on if I can sell my car and for how much.  I also have to check out the original motor we pulled out of my car to see how much I can get out of it.  Waiting for summer camp to be over so Kevin has the time and can get into the shop to pop the valve cover and see if I really did throw a rod.

I also have things to trade...if you're interested in Signed Steinbach Nutcrackers, signed by Herr Christian on his last visit to the USA which he had to cut short due to health issues.  Sadly he died a few months later.  I also have Top of the Line SCUBA gear or a hand painted Victorian Christmas village.

So why is gliding in neutral bad?

I had to do that many yrs ago when something went out on my Tbird and the temp was sky rocketing.  I was able to get off the freeway and to the dealership to have it fixed under warranty.
