Re: [diesel_mercedes] Craigslist SCAMS

Even though there is a telephone number attached, it is still probably a scam. I nearly fell for this a few years ago with a chevelle offered by a guy supposedly in Maine; he wanted me to Paypal money to him, to keep the car until I showed up. Otherwise he couldn't guarantee he wouldn't sell it to the first person to show up ( in East BF Maine).

Just thought I'd throw this comment in since I've been lurking awhile....still have my 300D, haven't run it in awhile, ...sniff, sniff..

As soon
as you read " moving over seas " get ready to be
ripped off .

CHECK THE
TITLE and match it to the seller's ID ! .

Usually these will offer it to
you sight unseen , you only needs send them some money , off
shore of course because ' I already shipped out ' or
other similar BULLCRAP .

Looks like a good deal *if* it's legit .

[diesel_mercedes] Craigslist DEALS

Then I'd say this sounds like quite the deal .

There are NO elitists here Mark , several members here were seriously ripped of in Texas by cragislist scammers , don't get excited .

elitists don't try to help each other .

What would you say if I told you I know the car?

Quit flaming one person for posting an ad about an available car but not EVERYONE!

It may be time for me and my 13 Mercedes Diesels to take leave of your little elitist troupe!

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Craigslist SCAMS

My favorite scam on Craigslist is someone who says they want an item and then offers to pay  a higher than asked price for it to have it picked up later.  When you deposit their check, which usually isn't good, they then get your account information.  My standard response is either show up in person with cash or  Fedex cash.  I haven't gotten a favorable response yet.

I don't consider it "flaming" to offer friendly (often experienced) advice.

His advice/warning should be taken in the spirit it was offered.  If you disagree, that is your prerogative, ignore it at your own risk.
