This group provides a forum for owners and operators of diesel powered motorhomes and 5th wheel tractors to discuss mechanical issues, regulatory issues (US, Canada), ownership, insurance, campground accommodations, trip reports/suggestions, and other topics relevant to large RVs and the people who drive them.

Ride the metro in LA whenever I can to get out of the rush hour traffic. It sure makes for long days and the urine stench just makes it very appealing :-)
Had a meeting withe metro last year, everyone that worked for metro drove to work and thought my traveling by rail was a novel idea.
The very first light rail line to re open in Los Angeles was the " Blue line " that goes from Downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach ~ I rode it a few times the very first year it opened, now it's called " The Ghetto Blue" and even the police suggest avoiding it if at all possible .Sad as I grew up riding the trollies and subways in Boston and areas in the 1960's and apart from the stench of urine they never even tried to clean, it was handy, rapid and fairly safe .The last time I went back I rode it again in an emergency in the pouring rain, it was O.K., crammed with commuters and no bums .-NateBrian wrote :I took BART to Richmond once - never saw any cool things, only thugs on street corners.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] I Fixed It Too Much
Oh, damn .
I soaked my spare W123 fuel sender for a couple days in that purple cleaner stuff I get at COSTCO / SAMS CLUB and dilute 50 % with water, it was *so* clean and fresh looking !.
I installed it without testing, filled the tank and parked the car .
Sunday I pulled it out and the fuel gauge was on "E" and the low fuel lamp wasn't lit so I drove it to the filling station forgetting I'd filled it, oops .
Now I have to go clean up the one I just took out that wasn't working 100 % properly .
I think maybe the de greaser stuff soaked and killed the float .
For now I'll use the trip odometer as a fuel gauge .
