Probably why they are so prevalent on Craigslist at so low a price; many people opt to replace the motors with detroit motors. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ I think the XKE and its predecessors were beautiful cars. When I first got a 300Sd, I was a bit apprehensive, believing the cost would be prohibitive, but the maintenance was far easier than I expected and the parts readily available and pretty reasonable. --- On Mon, 9/24/12, mnijfo <mnijfo@yahoo.com> wrote:

[diesel_mercedes] Re: goes on craigslist tonight/ jags
Way back when (~1980), I had a 1973 XJ6 Jag and a 72 350SL at the same time. Different in many ways, especially the ride (Jag was much smoother) and the maintenance (Jag required way more). XJ6 averaged about an hour of care (tune-up, repairs, cleaning, adjustments, etc.) for each hour driven. XJ6 was basically hand made, so fortunately, you could take almost anything apart with hand tools. Unfortunately, I had to take almost everything apart over time. The 350SL basically needed oil/filter changes and tire rotations during the same time period.

[diesel_mercedes] There's A FUNGUS Amoung Us !
Tom foolishly parked his S Klasse near my house and Lo ! he suffered a clogged primary fuel filter the other day so we got new primary and secondary filters and installed both , taking the time to fill up the secondary filter wih the initial tratment of Startron before screwing it on .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Window Tinting
THANX Nick ! .
All I know about window tinting is : if you remove the glass and have them tint it bare then re install it ,the edges won't_ever_ begin to peel and curl up like it always does otherwise....
Instaling Auto Window Glass is easier than you think but again , not for every DIY'er , I almost always buy a new grommet because I hate leaks .
Agreed , home tinting isn't easy , some folks go right to it and never have bubbles etc. .
I didn't know the reflective typ is illegal ~ I like it but haven't seen it in La La Land for several years now .
3M used to make a killer good UV Blocking tint that wasn't dark , I'd tint all my vehicles with it in a trice *if* I could but find anyplace that sells it .
