I think synthetic oil will keep its lubrication qualities longer but dino oil is better at picking up crud and getting it transported to the filter. They used to make fully synthetic oil for airplanes but after a few engines got so full of crud that they stopped in midair, they figured they'd only sell "semi-synthetic" oil from then on, which is a mix of synthetic and dino. Auto engines are different and they can tolerate more crud, but maybe alternating the two with each oil change would get the best of both worlds.
