Remember that water will not compress, if it expands it's gotta go
somewhere. It will find the easiest way out ,in this case its
probably going to be back through the pump valves & out to your
fresh water tank. If you have an air expansion tank that is where
the expanded water will go.
I live in a rural area and when the water co-op was
required to install backflow preventers at each persons meter
they suggested that everyone install a expansion tank. It seems
that before, the entire system had been acting as our expansion
device. I probably made it more confusing but thats the way I
understand it.
