Re: [Diesel-RVs] Re: Rid-X

I full time and use nothing but water. A couple of years ago a friend
attended an FMCA rally in Pomona and met a vendor who used a high pressure
hose and video camera borascope to clean RV holding tanks. To make a long
story short he cleaned my buddy's tanks for $200 (rally special price) and
told him what he thought of RV chemicals. In a nutshell he said that most
work as advertised and break down various solids. These solids are reduced
to a paste like substance that sticks to the walls and especially the bottom
of the tanks. The problems he said is insufficient water. His recommendation
was to never dump a tank that was less than 2/3 full and whenever possible
re-fill with fresh and dump again. According to him only the scouring action
of water will keep the tanks clean. The more water the cleaner the tank. It
has been several years now since I've used any chemicals and so far so good.
I especially appreciate not having to pay good money for something and then
throw it down a toilet. VBG
