I think I have heard the lights in the back can short out at the plastic area. Would not hurt to replace all your fuses and bulbs as they are cheap.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Horn and backup lights - 1983 300D
I have no horn or backup lights on my "new" 300D. The horn blows when I
jump power to it. The fuses all look fine.
I pulled the steering wheel cover and shorted the two contacts. Nothing
happens. Is there another fuse or relay? Does the horn button ground
the horn or feed +12V to it?
Coming up next is why don't my backup lights work. I haven't done any
testing on them yet, but maybe there is a common issue/cure?
Yup. It's my birthday. Getting all the cars ready for state inspection...
Thanks
Carl
