OK so I'm looking online for my filter and it dawned on me...if we're supposed to purge the system over and over again for a month or so till it's nice and clean..what about the filter? Shouldn't it also be changed frequently until the fluid is clear?
My other question is what on earth is this that O'Reilly is selling?

It looks completely different from the ones Peach or AutoHausAZ are selling and it's a LOT more expensive.

Auto Zone has something completely different too! Geez.

Just wondering how many filters I need to order.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Nate...P/S purge and filter
Trish,
The ones from Peach and Autohaus look like the one in my '81 300SD, and in the three, four, or however many 123 models that Nate has.
The ones from O'Reilly and Autozone look more like fuel filters, but may be intended to go at some inline location that I am unaware of.
The pancake format ones from Peach and Autohaus are what you expect to pull up out of the bottom of your PS pump.
Tom
