[diesel_mercedes] Re: Where to buy Crankcase ventilation hose & fitting for the valve cover...

BuyMBParts.com , PeachParts.com etc. ~ all of the Mercedes specific Partshaus' have very good OnLine catalogs that allow you to SEE the actual item before you buy it ~

If your '81 300D is a non turbo , the CC breather plumbing is a bit different .

The rubber elbows are moulded and really help reduce oil weeps once you replace them all , there's one or two underneath the air cleaner depending on the year , and an insulated plastic hose as well, it's straight or 'C' shaped depending on the year of the car .

Tom @ The Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine , Ca. will get you the
" just so " parts , original equipments just give him your VIN and the correct parts <magically> appear on your doorstep via the Post in a few days , nearly the same price as your local Parthause too and best of all : ORIGINAL EQUIPMENTS that fit and work right , just like the 30 year old parts you're replacing now .

There are nifty spring clips that are often gone missing , two for each rubber elbow , I highly suggest buying these too , do not use reguar screw typ hose clamps anywhere on your Mercedes .

In all old Machines , the Devil Is In The Details , moreso with German cars and impossibly so with Mercedes products so don't get cute and try to pinch pennies by making do with substandard service items or you'll wind up hating your wonderful old Mercedes .

Take the time to compasrison shop and buy wisely , this will save you $ & greif in the long run ~ look at how many people here have 3000,000
plus miles on their daily driver , nothing special old Mercedes Diesels .
