Re: [Diesel-RVs] Re: 07 Toyota/Nitrogen

Brent,
This same discussion is on another site I am on (How did that start?) and from the two
sites, two reasons for the Nitrogen are becoming apparent.
1) the molecule for Nitrogen is larger than the oxygen and will not seep through the
rubber. Thus easier to maintain a constant pressure.
2) Due to the new cars having the inflation sensors in the tires, the substance needs to
be free of oxygen to keep the sensors from corroding.
Costco is adding the Nitrogen to tires because they do not want to have to pay for new
sensors in the tires because they used plain old air.
This leads me back to the original question about Toyota NOT using Nitrogen. My Toyota
has sensors in the tires, yet Toyota does not use Nitrogen. Just more confusion. More
than one kind of sensor manufactured.

:I don't pretend to be an expert, but I was told that the benefit to nitro is
: that air pressure in most tires disipates through the tire at about 1 pound
: per month. Apparently nitrogen does not disapate to the same extent.
