If you're up to the task I highly recommend it .
I have the basic HVAC in my '82 240D and it's damn near perfect .
When the Klima I is working , you'll love it , it's fantastic .
However , it always seems to go kaput once or twice a year , any little bit of dirt or corrosion in the cooling system will get caught in the servo and stall it , causing a daisy chain failure .

It does Nate. I mistyped. The grey ghost is a 1979 300SD (W116). I'm half tempted to rip the whole thing out and put in the manual Euro I have in the '78 280SE Euro parts car.

OOPS ! Kilma II doesn't have an Evil Servo..... sorry Ben .
I'd take the blower out or maybe a spare one and take it apart , see if NAPA has the brushes in stock or buy them for 3 X the $ from Kent @ Mercedes' Source . I did this and the instruction booklet was missing a page .
In any case , it's a couple hour job , a spare set of hands is helpful but not mandatory .
If the blower only runs on " high " or occasionally after a bump , the brushes are shot .
