Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : Hard Cold Starting & Poor Idle

I try to schedule maintenance items for April/May and October when the sunshine is toasty on my backside, but not hot enough to make me sweat. I sure do miss my 3 car garage.

If you've not done a routine valve adjustment since August , _NOW_ is the time as they're tight , I guarantee it .

Trust me , it'll only get colder from to - day onwards and you really don't want to need to do this in January .

This is also the time of year to begin adding some Cetane Booster like Power Service in the _white_ bottle ~ remember :

White bottle in Winter

Silver bottle in Summer

Now is also the time to do a hot oil & filter change using thin synthetic oils ~ 5W whatever makes your Mercedes *much* easier to start in cold weather , it'll last 'till Spring when you can go back to that crappy paraffin based sh*t you normally use to save pennies .

Valve adjustments at _least_ once every 12 months regardless of mileage driven , every second oil change otherwise .
