I am feeling pretty guilty. With August's hot temps I have been content to just be a driver, not a fixer. So, I have just been toodling around town enjoying the drive. Praying for some 60 degree weather with a little mist so I can empty the trunks and see what parts I have (need to inventory them), and start planning some work. Always have the vacuums, radios, antennas, seats, to deal with - but first up is simple, i.e., replace the muffler hangers on both cars (been carrying them around for 6 months - don't do much good in the console trays). Might even try and chase down the trans fluid leak on Martha. ps-will see Duane at the LA FAIR in about 2 hours. Since his pelvis fracture I think he went on full disability. The bodies get pretty goosey as the years swim by.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] A Good Day All In All
Even though I'm in a world of hurt right now .
I replaced the turbo on my '84 Coupe to - day , along with bunches of small things , 2 rubber air cleaner supports , the intake boot's rubber seals , now it fits really snugly ,first Mercedes I've had that the intake boot fits really 100 % so $ well spent I think .
I replaced both engine shocks too and now it doesn't rock as much @ idle as it did before , the rubber buffers on each shock end are pretty tired so I'll order up those next .
I sorted out some mis - matched engine hardware as that stuff bugs the heck out of me , turned the IP's rack damper bolt in 2/3 a turn , I hope that also helped the smoother idle .
After all this plus , Tom followed me on the freeway a few miles and the blue exhaust smoke is *gone* so now I know to begin addressing the injectors then I'll see about adjusting the ALDA screw as it still smokes brown , that's excess fuel , not a thing I want .
If it stops covering the cove with Diesel Smoot , I'll begin working to - wards that paint job it needs so badly .
To - morrow , a day off , no works , just a ports Car Rally in Malibu , I will be driving my Metropolitan Nash Fixed Head Sports Coupe .
-Nate
