[diesel_mercedes] Re : Vacuum Fun (?)

WELCOME Tom .

Pretty much it's cheap to fix , only the _ labor_ can get to be $pendy and the Dealer is the very last place to have this typ of work done as they work "Flat Rate " and hate involved diagnosis jobs so they never do them correctly anyways .

If you win The Lotto , The Classic Center can do you right .

Otherwise , you'll need to buy a hand vacuum pump with gauge and begin testing and replacing the leaky bits .

Pretty much all the rubber "Y" connectors under the hood will need replacing as will many short bits or rubber hosing that connects the various plastic vacuum tubes to points and vacuum chambers here & there in the car .

It is important to use the correct vacuum hose and "Y" connectors , not the crap ones from Pep Boys as they'll die soon leaving you stranded with the engine running .

I've covered all this in excruciating , pain filled detail so I hope you'll give that a look before making me write it all out again , I'm hoping to soon go through all this one more time , this time on the Euro. Spec. '84/'85 300TD I'm building for my sweet .
