Re: [Diesel-RVs] Re: Vibration when coasting.

All - Thanks - They haven't taken out the bearing yet, but they hope to take it out of the front and then check for other damage. They are talking 5 or so hours if they don't have to remove the axles and about 9 hours if they do. They said the U joints had a couple of grease zerks missing and that the grease ran out the other holes until they added them, but that the U joints were OK. Sorry, I don't know much about engines and especially diesels. They fixed an oil leak by changing the water pump gasket and said that there was another leak (but not bad) around the lifter galley gasket. I.m not going to have that fixed right now because of the amount of work involved. I should explain that I just bought this about 2 months ago and have been in Japan and Hawaii part of the time. It's about 12 years old and only has 39K miles so I thank it sat a lot of the time. I do like it and think it will work out good for me. I sold my lake home in N. Minn. and hope to travel for a while.
My wife died two years ago and my kids are all grown. I trust the mechanics pretty good so I'll just bite the bullet about the cost, I guess. I think I can stay at military campgroups most of the time, as I am military retired. How about some input on my plan. would the pinion bearing go bad that quick?
