[diesel_mercedes] Elektrikery Problems

FWIW ;

I don't ever sand nor abrade electrical connections as it forces the problem(s) to return , soon and worse .

I use METAL POLISH and you should too .

Lastly , a 70 Ampere alternator is a beautiful thing and prolly a good idea for those who live where freezing temps are routine .

When I went in to get my alternator "fixed"  the first thing my mechanic(#2 guy) thought that since the problem happened when turning on the lights and fan is the alternator is weak..BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ wrong answer.  I insisted he fix my starter boot & clean & tighten the connection.  He was skeptical it would help.  Afterward I was very pleased and he was scratching his head.  Just goes to show a wrench monkey is a wrench monkey.  Fine at taking things apart and putting them in.  The # 1 guy knows, his underlings just follow orders and if you believe your mechanic(and he is not too bright) you wind up replacing parts because it is easier than finding the real problem.  This shop is good because they will do as you ask.  However if I believed the #2 guy I'd have a new 70 amp alternator.
