Yes , of _course_ the Germans used a fuel pump safety relay ! .
In D-Jetronic equipped cars it's a small thing .
If your car has the CIS ? k-Jet ? system with the air flow box , it has contacts in the air box , the left most two IIRC , easy to jumper with an unbent paper clip but serious FIRE HAZARD when you do this if it gets any leak _anywhere_ in the fuel injection system .
