[diesel_mercedes] Re: Looking for vegetable oil source in the SF Bay area.

The craigs list supply has gone by-by. My area craigs list only had ads for people wanting to by oil now, so any one with oil that does a quick search, will see that they can sell it for $1-2 a gallon, some times more.

I only put 5 gallons of diesel in the tank at a time in the summer and go 500-800 miles before the next 5 gallons, in the winter, I go with 6 gallons of diesel and refill 4-600 miles. I also cut the veggie with 10-15% kero when day time temps are below 40 highs.

This winter with the lack of veggie, I will only drive on the warmer days and hope to keep it above 100 miles per gal of diesel.

If the oil is free, I see a similar savings on fuel, if I have buy the veggie, the savings are gone with you concider the difference between gas and diesel, the insurance and upkeep on the 2nd car.
My gas guzzeler gets 30-33 mpg on gasoline, and there is a $0.50 a gallon difference in price here. I had a spread sheet the calculated everything out at one time, I need to dig it up and see where my break even point is.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will hit the KoC and VFW posts to see what they have.
