yeah Tom, good points.....just thinking and hoping for the best.
and yeah, I laugh when someone says they get "40+" MPG in standard
driving......I suppose it'd be possible from Donner Summit (7000'+
elevation) to Sacramento (60' is elevation) since it's basically one, 60
mile down hill shot.........

Henry,
I can only know what he said, not what he might have been trying to
"refer to".
But the reality is that we pay all public school teachers poorly, and
expect them to work long hours, provide their own supplies, and deal with
troubled children with uninvolved parents.
Public school teachers, even with the highest seniority, rarely even
approach $100K pay. And there retirement benefits are a percentage of
their
pay, not more than 100%!
We have been slashing medical benefits for retirees around the nation.
Just yesterday, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said that Indiana's
reduction of public worker pay and medical benefits was "GOOD for the
workers."
I guess the workers with the best situations would be those whose pay and
benefits was reduced to zero!
One point to consider is that lying about teachers' pay and retirement
is an indication of the writer's belief that his political beliefs can't
be supported by actual facts.
I just hope that we don't get to a position where we have so little
faith in our Mercedes autos that we start to believe that we have to lie
about them to justify owning them. (OOPS!, we're already there, at least
for
those guys who don't have faith in their 123s, except when they make up
stories about them getting high 40s for mileage.)
The reality based owners know that a 123 is a great vehicle, even if
it isn't particularly aerodynamic.

could he be referring the 100K to retirement pay, and insurance coverage's
and such? I wonder if it'd come close, including all benefits?
