This is why I first thought tight valves or air in the fuel system ~ .
An unladen engine (park or neutral , NO AC one etc.) , will idle fairly smoothly in spite of small imperfections , loading it down by putting in gear , will make the weak cylinder (tight valve, bad injector etc.) begin to miss .
Never , _EVER_ hold your foot on the accelerator and brake at the same time ! the beats the snot out of the tranny by overheating the fluid , the heat rises fast , in a matter of seconds , never mind the duration of a traffic light .
The rack damper bolt is a spring loaded thing that screws into the back of the IP and holds the (possibly worn) fuel rack from jiggling when it's resting in the idle position .
There's the original with a sliver colored head and the improved one with the gold colored head , I don't suggest buying these because they're $pendy little buggers $ 45 or so and they occasionally turn up on junkers in Pick-A-part...
Look up ' Rack Damper Bolt ' in images so you'll know what to look for .
