I just replaced my vacuum fuel cutoff. It is of course operated by vacuum. It
pulls. There is a lever in the injector pump. The hook on the cutoff must pull
this lever. The vacuum fuel cutoff is notched. It only fits in one way. With a
little jiggling back and forth & clockwise and ccw you can get the hook on the
cutoff device past the lever in the injector pump. Once past and aligned you
should be able to pull the cutoff device out an eighth of an inch and it should
stop. So as long as you can feel this play you shouldn't be pushing the lever
which I think is the danger. I haven't started it up yet but just to make sure
I'm going to have a piece of plywood ready in case she runs away. Lawrence
