[diesel_mercedes] Re: Gremlin Hunt in 83 300SD

Just last night, before falling asleep, I was thinking about the radio (yes. really.) as a possible cause, or the wiring thereabouts....

My turn signals don't function correctly, and I was supposed to get a replacement hazard switch from the PO (and a left turn signal lens, and the spare key....sigh) and I just started wondering about the wiring "back there"...radio, hazard, dome light switches....

I have an aftermarket Alpine radio in there with removable faceplate...

So yeah, I'll do some more poking around as suggested, and I'll let you all know what I find...

It goes through a diode but those can fail and start draining your battery. There is a plug on the alternator that is a pain to get from above but is easy from below. It has a clip on it you will need to deal with. Go easy with it. If the light goes out then it's the alternator. This is the best test I can think of for proving the alternator is the cause.
